Keep current with Government, Local Authority and Engineering/Construction requirements
Investigate products, materials, construction methods and specifications and share your findings to ensure our designs meet current standards and best practice
Compliance/Quality
Self-Review of structural job
When reviewing projects maintain consistency between differing engineers
Follow the Company internal processes for report preparation, presentation, and issue to client
Use and develop the Company library and templates where applicable to ensure consistency in our design and documentation
Complete Site Inspections reports (if required) in line with the Company designs and produce associated PS4s as required.
Professional Relationships
Maintain effective professional relationships with Peers
Maintain effective relationships with industry professionals and regulatory bodies to ensure we are aware of any changes to standards and requirements
Liaise with area leader and project coordinator and agree on scope of job.
Build excellent relationships through prompt communication and proactively informing client of job progress or delays
Contribute to team by sharing knowledge and experience for continuous improvement
Be aware of any potential client issues or major problems on projects and report these to the Area Leader.
Engineering Design
Take full job scope from area leader at the beginning of the job and guide Project Co-Ordinator in gathering all the relevant information to assist with this.
Complete Engineering Designs and Reports for Structural jobs including residential and commercial/industrial using steel, timber, and concrete adhering to NZ Codes of Practice.
Ensure economical design for our clients is a priority
Ensure technical accuracy and correctness in design
Produce civil and structural working drawings using AutoCAD/REVIT or hand sketches as appropriate for the client, timeframe, and job scope/quote
Liaise with designated Project Co-Ordinator to ensure deadlines are met and to assist in resolving any barriers that may prevent deadlines being achieved
Ensure tasks are completed in the quoted time specified for issue before due date.

Learning
Commit to ongoing learning and professional development by proactively identifying opportunities to upskill yourself.
Identify knowledge gaps in relation to complex jobs or quotes and seek advice/mentoring from Senior Structural Engineering team members.
Maintain CPD (Continued Professional Development) records.
Special Projects
To complete other assignments, special projects or responsibilities delegated or assigned by the Leadership team in line with your role.
PERFORMANCE TARGETS Personal CPD - 4 hours per month Team Mentoring - Once a month spent with an individual team member to complete training and resolve any queries Billable Jobs -30 hours per week (this will reduce to 20 hours per week during initial 6 months of training period) Timesheets - Timesheets completed same day of work in time/cost system.
Design Targets: • RFI – 3 working days • Peer Reviews – 24 hours • Reports/Documents to be completed as per schedule at least 90% of the time • Writing excel spreadsheets for frequently used calculations in a professional manner.
