We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and technically adept Costing Engineer –Electrical to lead cost estimation activities for solar, electrical infrastructure, and industrial EPC projects. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in cost breakdown analysis, vendor coordination, BOQ preparation, and cost control methods. The role requires deep engagement with procurement, technical evaluation, and financial planning to ensure accurate and competitive project costing.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Analysis
• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical systems, including LT Panels, Solar Control Panels, Bus Ducts, ACDB, DCDB, PCC, MCC, and more.
• Analyze technical drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare BOQs and costing sheets.
• Perform cost simulations and support financial modeling of projects.
• Create and maintain detailed costing databases and benchmarks for continuous improvement.
• Conduct busbar sizing, wiring calculation, and panel fabrication assessments.
BOQ & Document Preparation
• Develop and maintain BOQs for solar and electrical infrastructure projects.
• Create cost comparison and deviation sheets to support decision-making.
• Coordinate with technical and procurement teams for input accuracy and scope validation.
• Generate costing inputs for bid submissions and tender proposals.
Vendor Engagement & Commercial Evaluation
• Liaise with vendors and suppliers for pricing, specifications, and availability of electrical components.
• Negotiate cost terms and payment conditions with suppliers.
• Register and onboard new vendors as per company policy and project requirements.
Cross-Functional Coordination
• Collaborate with estimation, purchase, and design teams to consolidate costing insights.
• Conduct technical evaluations of quotes and supplier capabilities.
• Assist the project team during cost reviews and client submissions.
Required Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of electrical project costing, panel estimation, and vendor pricing strategies.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of costing methodologies for solar PV systems, electrical substations, and EPC works.
• Skilled in documentation – BOQ, deviation sheets, scope matrix, drawing lists.
• Excellent time management, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail and cost optimization mindset.
Education & Experience
• B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in costing roles within the electrical/EPC/solar industry.
• Experience with EPC costing for solar plants, LT panels, water treatment plants, and substations up to 220 KV is highly desirable.
