Job Description

The Deputy General Manager will lead and oversee the end-to-end establishment of a new Solar Power Plant, ensuring timely project execution, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and seamless transition into full-scale operations.

Key Responsibilities

A. Project Planning & Execution 

  • Lead the overall setup of the solar plant from land preparation to commissioning.
  • Develop project timelines, budgets, manpower deployment plans, and resource schedules.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, vendors, logistics, and internal teams.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to milestones and technical specifications.

B. Technical Oversight 
  • Oversee installation activities related to modules, structures, inverters, SCADA, transformer yards, and BOP systems.
  • Review engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety norms and engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during construction and commissioning.

C. Permits, Compliance & Approvals 
  • Ensure statutory approvals for construction, electrical installations, and grid connectivity.
  • Liaise with government authorities, DISCOMs, and regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain documentation for quality, safety, and environmental compliance.

D. Contractor, Vendor & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead vendor evaluation, negotiation, and onboarding.
  • Monitor contractor performance and enforce quality/safety standards.
  • Coordinate with Finance, SCM, HR, O&M, and Legal teams.

E. Quality, Safety & Risk Management 
  • Implement QMS and conduct QA/QC site audits.
  • Ensure adherence to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) norms.
  • Identify risks and drive mitigation plans.

F. Pre-Commissioning & Handover 
  • Lead testing & commissioning of plant systems and transmission lines.
  • Ensure seamless project handover to O&M teams.
  • Validate plant performance parameters.
G. Team Leadership 
  • Build and lead a high-performing project execution team.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 12–18+ years of experience in Solar EPC / Renewable Energy.
  • Proven experience in setting up utility-scale solar plants (50 MW+ preferred).
  • Strong project management and cross-functional coordination experience.

  • Vendor/contractor management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Primavera, etc.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
