Job Description

1. Job Purpose

Responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring the QA/QC system for PEB, structural steel, composite structural works, RCC, concrete, reinforcement, foundations, and associated civil works. Ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, applicable IS/ASTM standards, project requirements, and client/consultant quality requirements.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Quality Assurance

• Prepare and implement the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, method statements, and quality procedures.
• Review approved-for-construction drawings, specifications, BOQ, material specifications, and project quality requirements.
• Establish inspection procedures for PEB, structural steel, composite structures, RCC and civil works.
• Coordinate with client, consultant, JSSL, subcontractors, design team, and third-party inspection agencies.
• Ensure all materials and construction activities comply with approved specifications and applicable codes.
• Maintain complete QA/QC documentation, inspection records, test reports, MIRs, WIRs, NCRs and quality dossiers.

• Inspect incoming PEB/structural steel materials, including plates, sections, bolts, welding consumables and accessories.
• Verify Mill Test Certificates (MTC), material grades, heat numbers and traceability.
• Monitor fabrication quality, including:
  o Cutting and profiling
  o Plate preparation
  o Welding
  o Dimensional accuracy
  o Camber and alignment
  o Surface preparation
  o Painting/coating
• Review and monitor WPS/PQR and welder qualification certificates.
• Ensure welding inspections are carried out as per approved ITP.
• Coordinate NDT activities such as UT, DPT/MPI, as applicable.
• Inspect high-strength bolted connections, bolt grade, tightening/torqueing and installation records.
• Check erection activities for:
  o Column and beam alignment
  o Plumbness
  o Level
  o Connection details
  o Bolting
  o Bracing
  o Stability
• Verify PEB member identification and traceability from fabrication to erection.
• Inspect roofing, cladding, flashing, gutters and associated PEB accessories, where applicable.

• Inspect composite beams, deck sheets, shear connectors/studs and associated steel components.
• Verify deck profile, thickness, fixing and end laps.
• Inspect shear stud welding, including spacing, positioning, welding quality and testing.
• Verify reinforcement placement over metal decking.
• Check temporary supports/shoring arrangements before concrete pouring.
• Inspect concrete placement over composite decks and ensure required slab thickness and levels are maintained.
• Monitor composite slab curing and finishing.
• Verify openings, embedded items, sleeves and MEP coordination before concrete placement.

• Inspect reinforcement steel for:
  o Grade and diameter
  o Bar bending and cutting
  o Spacing
  o Lap length
  o Development length
  o Anchorage
  o Cover
  o Chairs and spacers
• Inspect shuttering/formwork for dimensions, line, level, plumb, stability and cleanliness.
• Conduct pre-pour inspections and ensure all clearances are obtained before concreting.
• Monitor concrete batching, transportation, placing, vibration and finishing.
• Verify concrete grade, slump, temperature and cube sampling.
• Coordinate compressive strength testing and laboratory testing.
• Monitor curing and protection of concrete.
• Inspect foundations, pedestals, columns, beams, slabs, shear walls and other RCC elements.
• Verify construction joints, expansion joints, water stops and embedded items.
• Monitor repair of honeycombing, cracks and other concrete defects as per approved procedures.

• Prepare and submit Material Inspection Requests (MIRs).
• Verify all materials against approved material submittals.
• Maintain material traceability from receipt to installation.
• Ensure rejected/non-conforming materials are properly identified, segregated and controlled.
• Coordinate third-party laboratory testing where required.

• Identify quality deviations and issue/coordinate NCRs.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for recurring quality issues.
• Prepare and monitor Corrective Action / Preventive Action (CAPA).
• Ensure NCR closure with proper supporting documents.
• Maintain quality observation and punch-point registers.
• Conduct regular quality audits of subcontractors and vendors.

• Attend daily/weekly quality coordination meetings with Sify/JSSL/consultants.
• Coordinate with construction, planning, engineering, procurement and subcontractor teams.
• Ensure inspections are completed before proceeding to subsequent activities.
• Monitor subcontractor QA/QC performance.
• Conduct toolbox/quality awareness sessions for site teams.
• Ensure approved drawings and latest revisions are available at site.
• Support preparation of as-built drawings and final handover documentation.
• Prepare weekly and monthly QA/QC reports.

• B.E./B.Tech/ in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 8–12 years of QA/QC experience in construction.
• Strong experience in PEB/structural steel + RCC/concrete works.
• Experience in industrial buildings, data centres, warehouses, commercial buildings or large-scale infrastructure projects preferred.
• Experience in composite steel-concrete structures will be an advantage.
